Christian Business Advice Blog - with a Godly perspective

3. As I am moving forward into this unknown ocean of faith, I get to spend more time with a God that is listening and answers my prays as He wills it.

The Perspective

Owning your own Christian based business is an exciting thing. You are filled with hope and awe. You have the Lord beside you every step of the way and your feeling like you could conquer the world with your enthusiasm.

Godly Encouragement

If I have any advice to give a person wanting to help the Lord fulfil your purpose. Firstly, I would say to stay close and listen to the Lords calling and what he wants you to do next. It’s very important to have the Lord by your side and working with the Holy Spirit to get things up and running smoothly every day.

It would also be a good idea to pray about your finances and make sure you have done the math and calculated how much you will need for the initial start-up, as well as a nest egg for future times where the money just isn't flowing in. I would also like to pretty much suggest that you look at the amount you are investing and without getting into debt try and double it.

You may be thinking 'well that's a bit drastic'! And you would be right! And wrong!

There is nothing worse than not having the funding to keep your business at a good pumping level. By that I mean, all the bills are being covered. The internet charges, the GST, the tax your putting away for next years return. The continual requirement of new stock, new images, and all costs related to new ways to promote your business are very important in creating the successful business model.

The One-Man Band Syndrome

I would also like to say. Do not be afraid to reach out and ask for help. If your business is a one-man band like mine. Then you need all the encouragement and advice you can get your hands on. Listening to the nay-sayer's in your life can be so daunting. So, keep looking up and moving forward. Find someone who is like minded and able to give you good sound business advice and Godly encouragement. Not just someone who is a friend but someone who has the experience and advice you need to hear.

My Three Favourite things about being a Christian business owner

1. Being able to create products or a service from scratch and wanting to see if the end product has become that sellable item of good quality that you would expect if you were purchasing it for yourself.

2. I get to be myself and add my own flair on being creative.

3. As I am moving forward into this unknown ocean of faith, I get to spend more time with a God who is listening and answers my prays as He wills it. And I am slowly watching it becoming a very tangible thing. With the Lords help it is being created anew every day.

My go to business bible verse would have to be: 'Be still and know that I am God' from Psalm 46:10

My reason for referring to this verse time and time again, is because I tend to get ahead of myself and before I know it I am in amongst an emotional ocean of discontent, as I have created too many unfinished products.

I get flustered and don't know how to swim out. The only way out is to stop, look up, grab my bible and be in His rest by being still and knowing He is God. He has it all under control and I should slow down and fully complete the thing I have just started before starting another project. It’s the only way to overcome the frustration. How about you, where do you feel you need to improve your thought process to help with establishing your business?

The other thing I tend to do is write lists. This can be good and bad. It’s great to be inspired. But it’s not so great if you can’t wait and you run on ahead to start another project before completing the last one.

Hello my name is Stephanie and I have created a business called Country Grace Australia. The main website is purely Christian based and has my new COMING SOON - ‘Beautiful You’ and Beautiful Young Lady’s’ membership for you to sign up to here. All designed to help woman from 13 years old to 25+ on their journey with the Lord. I am also on Etsy where I sell products for the home, woman and children. I am hoping that my gifts of sewing, painting and writing will enable the business to create funding that will help the needy, homeless and whomever the Lord directs me to support.

Fun Fact:  My fun fact is that back in the 90's I created a little furniture and gift shop in beautiful Cottesloe, a gorgeous corner of this city called Perth, Western Australia. People came from the other side of the country to visit my shop as it was featured in a large Australian Country magazine. The funny thing is. At the time I was very shy and did not think I was capable, of creating anything worth selling. When I look back I wonder about that confidence that I lacked. I now realise, it was attributed to me not really knowing, how much the Lord thought I was worthy!  Since then, the way I have combatted my fears is by just stepping out to see what is going to happen next (with some planning ahead of course!) and see what happens. The Lord will surely let you know.

Verses to refer to for encouragement:

Be still and know that I am God Psalm 46:10

The heart of a woman plans her way, but the Lord establishes her steps Proverbs 16:9

I hope you are inspired to learn about what’s needed between yourself and the Lord to run a Christian business (your ministry) and it sets a foundation for you in your future endeavours.

Have a wonderful year.

God Bless!
