What are you fearing ?

Australia Anzac Day Inspiring Christian Blog

There are so many things happening in this mighty world we live in today. Everyone is more conscious of the other person and fully aware of the latest world news. With this approach to life and social media connecting and exposing you to everything, people are becoming increasingly fearful. Everything has become transparent, and people are requiring you to be the same.

We are all living in this world together and trying to get along as best we can and our privacy is becoming increasingly limited. If people want to know about you, they will search you out via your social media postings and make assumptions about you.

So how do we cope with all of this going on? What shall we do to make our lives much more peaceful and be joyful at the same time?

To those of us who are Christian there is only one answer to this challenge.

If you head over to Deuteronomy 31:8 the Greek translators of the day held fast to the Lord by following Moses’ instruction. Moses himself, translated the instruction by the Lord, and He advised the congregation and the Greeks, that the things written here were not law but a covenant between God and His people. God’s love for them at this time, was by the redemption from Egypt of a whole nation and the giving of a continued provision of crops and manna.

What are we to make of this in today’s language? If we look at the people of that era, they were obedient as a nation, nomadic at this point and following the leadership of Moses. Moses himself was wanting to keep everyone up to date with the advice He was receiving from the Lord. The Lord himself was watching over His flock and feeding them along the way.

In lots of countries today. Those in leadership are trying to inform their people, to be prudent and effective and be at peace in their day to day lives.

If we look at today’s world. There are people in power who are leading their people the best they can with the provision they receive.

If you are feeling fear over all that is happening in the future and thinking it may be an uncertain one.

The following may assist you in this matter:

Firstly, prayer is a wonderful motivator, and it will give you the confidence to continue without fear.

Deuteronomy 31: 8 says these precious words of encouragement:

It is the Lord Who goes before you; He will walk with you; He will not fail you or let you go or forsake you; fear not, neither become broken (feel down or confused and anxious with alarm)

And if you delve a little bit further into Isaiah 52:12. It says this:

For you will not run or fly when things are not good or have taken you by surprise: for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard

The above passages were written, to inspire the people to always look up and seek their heavenly Father for assistance. Hebrews 13:6 sums it up nicely and encourages you with these words:

So, we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my helper: I will not be seized with alarm (I will not fear or dread or be terrified. What can man do to me?

What is it you are fearing today? It may be the Covid19 plague that is right over the planet. It may have caused you to become sick, or someone you know, and it has rattled you because your future has or may become very uncertain if getting sick is going to turn your world upside down. It may have already happened, and you are relying on others for support. Seeking family support is a humbling thing to cope with, and it is or would be difficult to manage daily without their love and compassion towards you.

If we look at the first passage of scripture above in Deut 31:8, we can see that the Lord is very omnipresent. He advises through Moses for His people to not become broken because although He is above, He is also helping them and not leaving them out in the cold, to cope with everything themselves. He wanted them to keep moving forward but they were fearful of going into the next city the Lord wanted them to settle in.

Life is not a crystal ball. So, we cannot see our way into it. That would be a sad thing. There are reasons why the Lord does not tell us everything. Things may go south, and we may find our faith is waning so we must just trust and believe that He is there and watching over us.

It is now that we need to dig deeper and do bible study to keep us aware of how much the Lord loves us. Whatever it is we are going through, we must accept it will change, because nothing stays the same. We must not be resistant to change as it is what is helping us to grow. Our God is a God of change.

There are reasons why we go through the good stuff and the serious stuff as well. During the serious stuff that is when we are growing.

It is at this time that we must hang on to the word and remember that the Lord goes before us, but He is also our rear guard watching over us and pulling us through to the next season of our lives. Having faith that your future is on the move and the uncomfortable situations you are in will pass, is necessary in today’s world.

Lastly if we follow Galatians 5: 22-23 which tells us:

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

We can see, by choosing all the above, there is no room for fear.

The hope for our future may lay in the transformation of a community, and of a real people, into a humbled spirit, of peace and prosperity.
